The UC Davis football program continues to place student-athletes on All-American lists as three more Aggies were bestowed the honor from Stats Perform. Ulonzo Gilliam, Jr., Nick Amoah, and Rex Connors garnered the accolade from the website on Tuesday.
All three have been tabbed to at least one All-American list this postseason, as the Stats Perform honor is the third for Gilliam, Jr.
The only three-time captain in program history was named to the AP second team last week and the HERO Sports All-American squad. The senior was named to the second team at the all-purpose spot after running for 1,180 yards and 13 touchdowns to rank second in the league in yards and third in touchdowns on the ground. The Merced native also hauled in a team-best 50 passes for 366 yards. His 1,554 all-purpose yards ranked second in the Big Sky. The Stats Perform All-American honor is the second of his career.
CAREER RECORD WATCH: Enters 2022 ranked 2nd in career rushing (3,435), needing 155 yards on the ground to surpass G.P. Muhammad’s (1995-98) mark of 3,589… Also sits 2nd in all-purpose yards (4,480), just 150 behind Muhammad’s record of (4,629)… Enters season with 164 career receptions to rank ninth all-time… Also ranks ninth in scoring with 231 points – fourth all-time among UC Davis non-kickers… Brady Stuart (2012-15) holds the Aggie record with 274 career points.

2021 FALL: ALL-BIG SKY CONFERENCE FIRST-TEAM… Team co-captain… Won the team’s Ken O’Brien Award (offensive player of the year)… Amassed 1,179 total yards in 12 games played for a 98.25 average per contest with seven touchdowns… Rushed for 901 yards on 201 carries (4.5 ypc) and found the endzone six times on the ground… Hauled in 43 passes for 278 yards with a touchdown… Rumbled over 100 yards on the ground four times and eclipsed 100 total yards in five contests… Posted the second-best rushing performance of his career when he scampered for 178 yards on the ground on 26 carries (6.8 ypc) against Dixie State (9/18)… Totaled a career-best four touchdowns in the game, including three on the ground… Had three-straight performances of over 100 yards on the ground… Raced for 100 yards on 18 carries against Idaho State (10/9)… Followed up that performance with 104 yards on 22 carries against Northern Colorado (10/16) and then found the endzone at Cal Poly (10/23) on the strength of 109 yards on 24 carries… In the FCS Playoff game at South Dakota St. (11/27), ran for 73 yards with a score and added 55 yards on a season-high eight catches.
2021 SPRING: STATS PERFORM FCS PRESEASON ALL-AMERICA SECOND TEAM… Team co-captain… Appeared in first three games before shutting down his season due to injury… Rushed for 309 yards and a TD on 61 carries, while adding 7 catches for 28 yards and one rec TD in the air… Average of 103.0 rush yards per game would have led Big Sky Conference and ranked 11th nationally had he played in one more game… Had two 100-yard games: 145 on 26 attempts vs. Idaho (3/6), 101 on 17 carries vs. Cal Poly (3/20)… Scored both TDs against the Mustangs: 1-yard run with 4:58 left in 1st quarter, then 2-yard pass from Hunter Rodrigues at 6:10 in 2nd…
2019: STATS FCS ALL-AMERICA THIRD TEAM… HERO SPORTS SOPHOMORE ALL-AMERICA HONORABLE MENTION… ALL-BIG SKY CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM, both by the coaches and by Phil Steele’s… Also won team’s T. 2017: Offensive recipient of team’s George Belenis Award for outstanding redshirt of the year.
MERCED HS ’17: Played football, baseball and basketball… Two-year team captain for football team under head coach Rob Scheidt… Garnered All-Central California Conference first-team distinction at both running back and defensive back in 2016… Rushed for 1,597 yards with 30 touchdowns on 170 carries as a senior, which led to league Offensive Player of the Year honoree… Posted 103 tackles (64 solos, 39 assists) with 2 forced fumbles and 2 recoveries on defense… Averaged 17.1 yards per punt return… Led team to CCC championships in 2014 and 2015… Also helped Bears to 40 combined wins and state playoff berth in first two basketball seasons… Scored 232 points with 47 assists as a freshman, garnering second-team All-CCC accolades… Claimed CCC All-Academic distinction each year… Named MHS Student of the Year as a sophomore… Also took part in school’s AVID (advancement via individual determination) program all four years.
PERSONAL: Born in Merced, Calif…. Parents are Ulonzo & Shelly Gilliam… Active in his church, mentoring young children.
