The Los Angeles Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors game on May 6 delivered the largest NBA Conference Semifinals Game 3 audience in 24 years (since 1999) across all networks. Despite the 30-point margin of victory, Saturday night’s ABC broadcast averaged 8,373,000 viewers and peaked with 9,719,000 viewers at 10:30 p.m. ET, according to Nielsen.

Lakers vs. Warriors Game 3 on ABC was also the most-watched NBA Conference Semifinals game in 12 years (since 2011) across all networks. It was the most-watched broadcast for May 6 in several key demographics, including M18-34; M18-49; M25-54; P18-34 and P18-49.

In addition, Game 4 between the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers – an overtime thriller – on Sunday, May 7, delivered an average audience of 5,100,000 viewers on ESPN. It was the most-watched Conference Semifinals Game 4 ever on ESPN. Game 4 was the most-watched program across all of cable for the day and peaked with 7,676,000 viewers at 6:15 p.m.

The 2022 NBA Champion Golden State Warriors were named Team of the Year at the 2023 NBA Sales and Marketing meetings this week in Miami, Florida, where all 30 teams were recognized for their sales and marketing efforts during the 2021-22 season. Additionally, the team won the Inclusive Innovation Award, recognizing a specific team-led program that advances inclusive practices, and three additional awards, for a total of five, more than any other team. This marks the fifth time in the past eight years (2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022) that the Warriors received the most awards at the annual NBA league meetings.

The Team of the Year honor recognizes the organization that has demonstrated excellence in business performance across both key revenue drivers and operational focus areas.

Highlights from the Warriors’ business results during the 2021-22 season include:

  • The Warriors had a 98% retention rate among season ticket members, while selling out every game during the season and postseason run. The team’s current sellout streak of 451 consecutive home games is a franchise record.
  • In partnership with Rakuten, the Warriors unveiled Empowered, a celebration of women at the intersection of sport, community and culture in the Bay Area. The multi-faceted, season-long campaign includes the team’s Nike City Edition jersey, designed by Bay Area artist Hueman.
  • The Warriors served over 100,000 Bay Area community members at over 100 events. To mark the team’s 75th Anniversary last season, the organization partnered with Rakuten to unveil upgrades to City of Dreams in San Francisco, and during the 2022 NBA Finals, the Warriors and the NBA, in partnership with Kaiser Permanente and State Farm, unveiled a new NBA Cares Live, Learn and Play Center at the Columbia Park Boys and Girls Club of San Francisco.
  • The Warriors Community Foundation, in its 10th Anniversary season, announced a record annual grants slate of $2.475 million, to 66 Bay Area non-profits, bringing the Foundation’s total impact to over $30 million since its inception in 2012.
  • The organization led the league in local broadcast viewership this season, holding the top spot for the sixth time in the last seven seasons.
  • The team has over 63 million followers across social media platforms and led the league in cumulative engagements for the opening month of the season. The Warriors Instagram account became the first professional sports team in North America to eclipse 25 million followers.

The Inclusive Innovation Award recognizes a specific innovative program that advances inclusive practices and is evaluated against criteria related to the program’s innovation, inspiration, and impact. The Warriors and United Airlines partnered to create Franchise Fund, a program designed with the help of the Western Regional Minority Supplier Development Council (WRMSDC) to help minority-owned small businesses in the Bay Area become corporate-ready and provide them the resources to become certified as minority-owned business enterprises (MBEs) by the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC). Franchise Fund eliminates barriers small businesses face in the accreditation process by providing all training, funds, and resources necessary to receive official MBE certification.

The Golden State Warriors are worth $7 billion, making them the most valuable NBA team for the first time ever in Forbes’ annual NBA franchise valuations.

Mike Ozanian and Justin Teitelbaum of Forbes write that the Warriors’ value increased 25% from last year to this year as Golden State generated the most revenue and raked in $150 million from arena sponsorship and advertising — double the mark of any other NBA team.

In their annual rankings, Forbes said franchise values across the league have risen 15% over the past year to reach an average value of $2.86 billion.

The New York Knicks are second ($6.1 billion) followed by the Los Angeles Lakers ($5.9 billion), Chicago Bulls ($4.1 billion) and Boston Celtics ($4 billion) to round out Forbes’ top five.

Overall, seven teams — including the Warriors — saw their value change year-over-year by more than 20%: the Phoenix Suns (up 50%), Washington Wizards (30%), Miami Heat (30%), Philadelphia 76ers (29%), Toronto Raptors (25%), the Warriors (25%), Cleveland Cavaliers (24%), Dallas Mavericks (22%), Milwaukee Bucks (21%) and Detroit Pistons (20%).

The New Orleans Pelicans were the lowest-valued team ($1.6 billion), while 12 teams are worth more than the average figure of $2.87 billion — the Miami Heat ($3 billion), Raptors ($3.1 billion), 76ers ($3.15 billion), Houston Rockets ($3.2 billion), Mavericks ($3.3 billion), Brooklyn Nets ($3.5 billion) and LA Clippers ($3.9 billion) and the rest of the top five.

NBA announces schedule for 2022-23 season

The NBA has released its full schedule for the 2022-23 season.

NEW YORK – The NBA today released its complete game schedule and broadcast schedules for TNT, ESPN, ABC, NBA TV and ESPN Radio for the 2022-23 regular season.  The complete schedule and team-by-team schedules are attached and available at

The 77th NBA regular season, which comprises 82 games per team, will tip off on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022, and conclude on Sunday, April 9, 2023.  The 2023 NBA Play-In Tournament will take place from Tuesday, April 11 – Friday, April 14, followed by the start of the 2023 NBA Playoffs presented by Google Pixel on Saturday, April 15.  Game 1 of the 2023 NBA Finals presented by YouTube TV is scheduled to be played on Thursday, June 1.

Kia NBA Tip-Off 2022

The first four days of the 2022-23 NBA regular season (Oct. 18-21) will feature eight national television games as part of Kia NBA Tip-Off 2022, with TNT and ESPN airing two doubleheaders each.  Those games will showcase 12 different teams, three rematches from the 2022 NBA Playoffs and rosters that currently include 15 NBA All-Star selections from last season and seven recipients of the Kia NBA Most Valuable Player Award.

The regular season will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 18 with a doubleheader on TNT, marking Turner Sports’ 39th consecutive year of NBA coverage.  In the first game, the Philadelphia 76ers will visit the reigning Eastern Conference champion Boston Celtics (7:30 p.m. ET).  In the second game, the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors will receive their championship rings before hosting the Los Angeles Lakers (10 p.m. ET).

ESPN will tip off its 21st straight year of NBA coverage on Wednesday, Oct. 19 with a doubleheader, which begins with the Memphis Grizzlies hosting the New York Knicks (7:30 p.m. ET).  The second game will be a rematch of a 2022 Western Conference Semifinals series, with the Dallas Mavericks visiting the Phoenix Suns (10 p.m. ET).

On Thursday, Oct. 20, TNT will present its second doubleheader of opening week as the 76ers host the Milwaukee Bucks (7:30 p.m. ET) and the Lakers meet the LA Clippers (10 p.m. ET).  ESPN’s doubleheader on Friday, Oct. 21 will have the Celtics visiting the Miami Heat (7:30 p.m. ET) and the Denver Nuggets facing the Warriors in San Francisco (10 p.m. ET) – rematches from the 2022 Eastern Conference Finals and 2022 Western Conference First Round, respectively.

NBA TV will tip off its live game coverage for the 2022-23 season on Saturday, Oct. 22 with a doubleheader as the San Antonio Spurs visit the 76ers (6 p.m. ET) and the Mavericks host the Grizzlies (8:30 p.m. ET).  The national television schedule for the first week of the season will conclude on Sunday, Oct. 23 when the Suns visit the Clippers on NBA TV (10 p.m. ET).

Christmas Day
Five games will be played on Christmas Day (Sunday, Dec. 25) for the 15th year in a row, with ESPN or ABC televising each matchup.  The 75th edition of the NBA on Christmas Day will tip off on ESPN as the Knicks host the 76ers (noon ET).

The next three games will air on both ESPN and ABC, with the Lakers visiting the Mavericks (2:30 p.m. ET), the Celtics hosting the Bucks in a 2022 Eastern Conference Semifinals rematch (5 p.m. ET), and the Grizzlies making their Christmas Day debut when they visit the Warriors in a 2022 Western Conference Semifinals rematch (8 p.m. ET).  The Christmas Day schedule will conclude with the Nuggets meeting the Suns in Denver on ESPN (10:30 p.m. ET).

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

TNT will present a doubleheader as part of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 16.  In the first game, the Atlanta Hawks will host the Heat in a rematch of a 2022 Eastern Conference First Round series (3:30 p.m. ET).  In the second game, the teams with the two best records in the 2021-22 regular season will meet when the Suns (NBA-best 64-18 last season) visit the Grizzlies (56-26 last season) at 6 p.m. ET, marking Memphis’ 21st annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration Game.

NBA TV will also televise two games on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, with the Celtics visiting the Charlotte Hornets (1 p.m. ET) and the Lakers hosting the Houston Rockets (10:30 p.m. ET).

Election Day

As Election Day approaches, the NBA and its teams will continue to encourage fans to make a plan to vote and participate in the civic process.  New this season, all 30 teams will play on Monday, Nov. 7 on the day before Election Day, when the NBA will help promote voter participation, share important resources from voting organizations and highlight the civic engagement work of teams in their markets.  As part of this initiative, no NBA games have been scheduled for Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 8.

NBA Rivals Week

Classic and budding rivalries between teams and players will take center stage for NBA Rivals Week during the week of Jan. 23.  A new highlight of the regular-season schedule, NBA Rivals Week will feature 11 nationally televised games across four networks over five days from Tuesday, Jan. 24 – Saturday, Jan. 28.  Rivalries will be the focus of all nine games across TNT, ESPN and ABC that week, in addition to two games on NBA TV.

NBA Rivals Week will showcase a tripleheader on ABC on Jan. 28, concluding with the Lakers visiting the Celtics as the two teams that share the record for most NBA championships (17) and have met in the NBA Finals the most times (12) renew their rivalry in Boston (8:30 p.m. ET).  Earlier in the day on ABC, two-time reigning Kia NBA Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokić will lead the Nuggets against back-to-back MVP runner-up and 2021-22 NBA scoring leader Joel Embiid and the 76ers (3 p.m. ET), followed by an intracity matchup between New York and the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center (5:30 p.m. ET).

NBA Global Games

The 2022-23 season will feature the return of NBA Global Games with two regular-season games outside the U.S. and Canada, both televised by NBA TV.  The NBA Mexico City Game 2022 will see the Heat face the Spurs on Saturday, Dec. 17 at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City (5 p.m. ET).  The NBA Paris Game 2023 will feature a matchup between the Chicago Bulls and the Detroit Pistons on Thursday, Jan. 19 at the Accor Arena in Paris (3 p.m. ET).

2022 NBA Finals Rematches

The Warriors and Celtics will meet for the first time since the 2022 NBA Finals on Saturday, Dec. 10 in San Francisco on ABC (8:30 p.m. ET).  This will mark the season premiere of NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC, the first of seven regular-season games on Saturday nights at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

The second and final regular-season matchup between the two defending conference champions will take place on Thursday, Jan. 19 in Boston on TNT (7:30 p.m. ET).

Final Day of Regular Season
All 30 teams will play on the final day of the regular season (Sunday, April 9).  The seven games between Eastern Conference teams and the one interconference game (Rockets at Washington Wizards) will begin at 1 p.m. ET, and the seven games between Western Conference teams will start at 3:30 p.m. ET.  ESPN will televise a doubleheader, with the matchups to be determined at a later date.

Travel Reduction

The estimated average miles traveled for the 2022-23 regular season has been reduced to 41,000 miles per team, a record low in the era with 30 teams and 82 games per team.  This marks an estimated reduction of nearly 2,000 miles per team from last season’s previous all-time low of 43,000 miles traveled.  In total, NBA teams are projected to travel more than 50,000 fewer miles than last season.

The instances with no travel between games for teams on the road have increased by 66% from last season (88 from 53).  The 88 no-travel instances include 55 instances of teams playing consecutive road games against the same opponent and 33 instances of teams playing two games in a row in Los Angeles (against the Clippers and Lakers) or New York (against the Knicks and Nets).

Additional Schedule Highlights
All 30 teams are scheduled to make at least one appearance on TNT or ESPN in the 2022-23 regular season.  The NBA on TNT, ESPN, ABC and NBA TV will present flexible scheduling throughout the regular season to provide the most compelling matchups to a national audience.

TNT will air 18 Tuesday doubleheaders and 13 Thursday doubleheaders during the regular season, with each Thursday doubleheader taking place in January or later except for the one during opening week.  ESPN will televise 21 Wednesday doubleheaders and 13 Friday doubleheaders.  All primetime doubleheaders across TNT and ESPN will again be played at 7:30 p.m. ET/10 p.m. ET.

ABC will present 15 regular-season games across Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons (excluding Christmas Day).  NBA TV will televise more than 100 live games during the regular season.

The 2023 NBA Finals presented by YouTube TV and the 2023 Western Conference Finals will be exclusively televised by ABC and ESPN/ABC, respectively.  TNT will exclusively televise the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals and the 2023 NBA All-Star Game, which will be played on Sunday, Feb. 19 in Salt Lake City.

ESPN Radio will broadcast 25 games in the regular season, including Lakers vs. Warriors on opening night, Bucks vs. Celtics and Grizzlies vs. Warriors on Christmas Day, and Heat vs. Hawks on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  It will also provide coverage from NBA All-Star and the NBA Finals.

The regular season will feature 45 games that will air in primetime in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) as part of “NBA Saturdays and NBA Sundays presented by NBA 2K23.”

Felicia Roberts took an idea gathered a few people to reached into a minority community to highlight the positive, using a minority newspaper the Central Valley Voice. Roberts was joined by her sisters Carolyn Williams, Alleashia Thomas, niece Hermonie Lynn Williams, nephew Ron Williams, cousin Jerald Lester, Jay Slaffey, Greg Savage, Tim Daniels and the late J Denise Fontaine. Each individual played an important role in the birth of the newspapers. Since, then many have stood strong behind the success of the newspapers and its goal to fill a void in the Central Valley community. The Central Valley Voice published their 1st issue in November 1991. Its purposed was to highlight the achievements of minorities in the Central Valley. The Voice focuses on the accomplishments of African Americans and Hispanics giving young people role models while diminishing the stereotypical pictures of gangs, crime and violence that permeate the minority communities. Since 1991, the Central Valley Voice has provided an important voice for the minority community throughout the Madera, Merced. Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties.
