Juneteenth is a holiday celebrated on June 19 to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, enslaved people were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation.

The Juneteenth Coalition will be hosting a Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 18th beginning at 10 a.m. This family-friendly event will be held at McNamara Park in Merced.
There will be vendors, music, food and fun for children and adults. This event is open to the public and ALL are highly encouraged to attend to celebrate and learn about Juneteenth.

Parade downtown Main Street begins 10 a.m. at Q and Main. Proceeds east ends MLK Way and ends 12 p.m. Mc Namara Park begins @ noon. FREE everything is FREE at the park. Sacramento Juneteenth Festival — Gospel Under the Stars Concert
