“Russell embodies the identity we’re striving for in Sacramento,” said Kings General Manager Scott Perry. “His resume speaks for itself and I’m excited to work with someone so accomplished, who is fully committed to competing and winning. We expect him to strengthen our point guard position and provide leadership both on and off the court.”
The Long Beach, Calif., native holds career averages of 21.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 1.6 steals per game in 1,237 career games (1,075 starts) with Oklahoma City, Houston, Washington, Los Angeles, the LA Clippers and Denver. Originally selected with the fourth overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder, Westbrook spent two seasons at UCLA where he received PAC-12 Defensive Player of the Year, Pac-12 All-Defensive Team, All-PAC 12 Third Team, and PAC-12 All-Tournament team honors as a sophomore in 2008.
