WASHINGTON – The NAACP shared its support of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announcement of their $7 billion ‘Solar to All’ initiative under the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund grant competition. This effort by the Biden-Harris Administration to deliver solar to more than 900,000 low-income and disadvantaged households nationwide aims to save low-income Americans $350 Million annually while advancing environmental justice across the nation.
Abre’ Conner, NAACP Director of Environmental and Climate Justice shared the following statement:
“Today, on Earth Day, the NAACP recognizes the many hardships and injustices experienced across the Black community as it relates to environmental and climate justice. We commend the EPA on their continued efforts to address reducing pollution and the environmental needs of historically excluded families. This grant not only impacts environmental justice but directly benefits a just transition for labor needs and is an important step towards economic liberation. The NAACP will continue to push for policies that will build a more sustainable and equitable future for our nation.”
The NAACP is a leading advocate for environmental and climate justice, economic equity, and access to capital for Black Americans. We support the need for the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund and will continue crucial partnerships with organizations who share our vision to create equitable solutions and forge a path forward for Black communities.
