In recognition of National Mentorship Month, the Sacramento Kings are expanding their commitment to youth empowerment with the launch of Draft Your Future, a new initiative focused on mentorship, career exploration, and community impact. The Kings will spotlight the importance of mentorship while creating new opportunities for adolescents and young adults to connect with industry professionals.

“The Sacramento Kings are proud to invest in programs that uplift youth voices and support their future success,” said Sacramento Kings Chief Operating Officer Matina Kolokotronis. “By expanding our mentorship efforts and highlighting the impact mentors can have, we hope to inspire more people to play a role in guiding and empowering the next generation.”

Developed in partnership with G-Unity Foundation and supported by MENTOR California, Draft Your Future builds on the foundation of the Kings Fastbreak Mentoring Program by connecting young people with professionals across the sports and entertainment industries. The initiative will feature interactive sessions led by Kings staff, including hands-on activities and discussions designed to expose participants to real-world career pathways and opportunities.

Additionally, beginning today through January 13, community members are invited to nominate mentors who have made a lasting impact on youth in the Sacramento region. Honorees will be selected as Mentors of the Month and recognized on court during a jersey exchange at the Kings game against the Miami Heat on January 20. Nominations can be submitted here.

Throughout January, the Kings will also activate a month-long awareness campaign across digital billboards, in-arena signage and social media platforms to highlight the importance of mentorship and encourage community involvement. Fans will have opportunities to learn more about mentorship programs and ways to support meaningful mentor-mentee relationships.

Beyond National Mentorship Month, the Sacramento Kings remain committed to investing in the youth of the Sacramento region through ongoing community initiatives that promote education, career readiness and personal growth.
