The Fall of Angels and Their Influence on Our Society Today

January 7, 2025

By Dr. Eric Haley

The Bible tells us that the leader of fallen angels is none other than Lucifer.  When he rebelled against God in heaven, his name was changed to Satan, which means adversary.  Revelation 12:7-10 explains to us, “And there was war in heaven.  Michael and his angels fought against the dragon (Satan); and the dragon fought and his angels,  And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.  And the great dragon was cast out, that serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world:  he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

The Devil, or Satan was cast out of heaven because he wanted to be like God and be worshipped and rule over everything.  All angels served almighty God when God first created them.  Lucifer was the devil’s name when he was a good angel.  Lucifer led the worship of God in heaven until he wanted to take over God’s throne.  Isaiah 14:12-15 tells us, “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God:  I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:  I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.  Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.  They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying. ‘Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;…”

Though we do not know the number of angles that Satan influenced to rebel with him, we do know the proportion.  The Bible states in Revelation 12:4, that Satan “drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth.”  So, another name of the angels that followed Satan are called demons.  We know from reading Job 38:7 that God called angels, “stars.” When these angels used their free will to rebel against God, that they lost their sinless state.  It is believed by Bible scholars that this rebellion occurred between the interval of the sixth day of creation and the fall of man.  Satan became the ruler of these fallen angels and eventually took authority from Adam on the earth when he got Adam and Eve to eat of the forbidden fruit.  The Bible never names the fruit which was eaten.  Genesis 3:6 reveals, “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her, and he did eat.”  Yeah, I know, in the movies they show that the couple ate an apple.  Believe scripture, not what you see on TV.

These fallen angles fall into two categories.  The more wicked ones cohabited with the women on the earth which was forbidden by God, and therefore are cast into a place underneath the earth in a compartment of earth called Tartarus. II Peter 2:4 states, “For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, (Tartarus in the Greek), and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment.”  Jude 1:6 further sheds light on this rebellion.  It reads, “And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgement of the great day.”  Genesis chapter 6 explains why God had to cause a flood that killed all of mankind, except for Noah and his family to get rid of the off spring of these angles that had changed their habitation. And remember, for every bad angel there are two good angels.

The remaining rebellious angels are the ones called demons that influence world rulers today.  These angels are assigned to  individuals, cities, states, governments and nations.  Ephesians 6:12 describes this situation this way, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”  These high places are places of governments, universities, corporations, and secret societies, that are not so secret anymore like the Free Masons, Council on Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commission, The Club of Rome, The United Nations, the Lucius Trust,  the Illuminati, Cecil John Rhodes Trust,  J.P. Morgan Trust, Rockefeller Trust, New Age Movement, The Rosicrucians, and Skull and Bones, the World Economic Forum, just to name a few.  All these organizations work to undermine governments that are ordained by God (Acts 17:26, Daniel 2:21).

The Bible explains to us Christians that it is our job to pray for our leaders, whoever is in office. (I Timothy 1:1-2) Secondly, the Bible tells us in the Old Testament to do not put our trust in man, but only in God! (Psalm 146:3) When Jesus died on the cross and resurrected, He took the authority that Satan stole from Adam and gave it back to his body of believers called the church.  Psalms 115:16 explains, “The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s:  but the earth hath he given to the children of men.”  Satan and the fallen angels have no authority to operate on this earth.  This is why demons need a body to operate in.  Think about it.  When people accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior the Holy Spirit comes and dwells in us because we have invited Him in. The Holy
Spirit has authority to operate in our lives on the earth because Jesus paid the price with his precious blood.  the resurrection is our receipt of his triumph over Satan! Colossians 2:15 states when Jesus rose from the dead, “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” So, we must do as we are commanded by the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 6:10, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.” We do not need to ever fear the devil and his minions ever again!  Something to think about.
