Warriors Sign Forward Draymond Green

The Golden State Warriors have signed forward Draymond Green to a contract, it was announced Thursday. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released.

Green, 36, appeared in 68 games (all starts) with the Warriors last season, averaging 8.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 27.5 minutes per contest. A 14-year NBA veteran, Green has played in 949 games (794 starts) for Golden State, with career averages of 8.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.3 steals in 28.6 minutes per game.

Green’s career accolades include the 2016-17 Defensive Player of the Year award (becoming the first player in franchise history to earn the honor), four NBA All-Star selections and two All-NBA honors. He is a nine-time NBA All-Defensive Team selection, becoming the first player in franchise history to earn All-Defensive First Team honors in three-straight campaigns (2014-15 to 2016-17) and the only Warrior to earn an All-Defensive Team nod in five consecutive seasons (2014-15 to 2018-19). Green is one of 14 players in NBA history to earn nine-or-more All-Defensive Team honors.

Green has helped the Warriors to 10 postseason appearances, including six trips to the NBA Finals and four NBA Championships, with playoff averages of 11.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks in 34.5 minutes over 169 games (152 starts). Green ranks as the Warriors’ all-time leader in postseason games played (169), rebounds (1,457), assists (1,020), steals (257), blocks (225) and triple-doubles (10).

Originally selected by the Warriors with the 35th overall pick in the second round of the 2012 NBA Draft, Green is Golden State’s all-time leader in regular season triple-doubles (33) and ranks among the franchise’s top three in games played (second), rebounds (third), assists (second), steals (third) and blocked shots (second). The Michigan State product is the only second round pick in NBA history to win at least four NBA championships and be selected as an All-Star four times.

Felicia Roberts took an idea, gathered a few people to reach into a minority community to highlight the positive, using a minority newspaper, the Central Valley Voice. Roberts was joined by her sisters Carolyn Williams, Alleashia Thomas, niece Hermonie Lynn Williams, nephew Ron Williams, cousin Jerald Lester, Jay Slaffey, Greg Savage, Tim Daniels, and the late J Denise Fontaine. Each individual played an important role in the birth of the newspapers. Since then, many have stood strong behind the success of the newspapers and its goal to fill a void in the Central Valley community The Central Valley Voice published its 1st issue in November 1991. Its purpose was to highlight the achievements of minorities in the Central Valley. The Voice focuses on the accomplishments of African Americans and Hispanics, giving young people role models while diminishing the stereotypical pictures of gangs, crime, and violence that permeate the minority communities. Since 1991, the Central Valley Voice has provided an important voice for the minority community throughout Madera, Merced. Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties.
