Ethnic Media Services and California Black Media joined for the two-day Annual Conference, Expo, and Awards on August 27-28, 2024 in Sacramento.

Over 300 entries were submitted at the California Ethnic Media Annual Conference, and Awards.
The Conference provided Speakers and Round table panelists:

California State Superintendent Tony Thurmond, Assembly Buffy Wick (D-14), Attorney General Rob Bonte, and Treasurer Fiona Ma were speakers.

Panels Discussion
Stop the Hate Panel – Three founders of the Stop the Hate Initiative talked about the value of ethnic media collaboration with CBOs and strategies for sustaining the initiative.

Reporters spotlight stories that give voice and visibility to targets of hate and document emerging rapid response networks.
Fireside Chat Presented by Stop the Hate Spread the Love — An intimate conversation about the impact of Stop the Hate initiatives
The Growing Threat of Racialized Disinformation — How to spot deep fakes and combat disinformation targeting ethnic audiences

The California Department of General Services provided an overview on “Doing Business with the State” and provided 1-on-1 assistance with the small business registration and certification process.

Several individuals were honored with a “Communications Champions Award” for their work in government agencies, business, communications, academia, and the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors to promote ethnic media.
