Warriors to Open 2026-27 Season at Lakers on October 21

Golden State Will Host Denver On Christmas Day In Its 14th Consecutive Appearance On December 25

he National Basketball Association announced today that the Golden State Warriors’ 2026-27 season, presented by Kaiser Permanente, will tip off on the road against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, October 21, at 7 p.m. (PT) on ESPN. Additionally, the Warriors will make their 14th consecutive Christmas Day appearance when they host the Denver Nuggets on Friday, December 25, at 7:30 p.m. (PT) on ABC.

The Warriors will open the regular season on the road for the third straight year and for the fifth time in the last seven seasons. Golden State’s game against the Lakers marks the longest streak of road season openers since a seven-year stretch from 1989 to 1995. It is also the second straight season the Warriors will open the season in Los Angeles against the Lakers and the 11th time overall (5-5) they will tip off a campaign against the Lakers, including the fourth time in the last six seasons. The Warriors own a record of 37-43 (.463) all-time in season-opening games, including 17-19 (.472) on the road.

The Warriors will make their 14th consecutive Christmas Day appearance, the longest such streak in franchise history. Golden State will play on Christmas for the 16th time in the last 17 years and owns a 16-19 (.457) all-time record on the holiday following last year’s 126-116 home victory over the Dallas Mavericks. Golden State’s matchup against the Nuggets marks the second time in four seasons the teams will meet on Christmas Day. It also marks the third consecutive season the Warriors will host a Christmas Day game and the seventh time in the last 10 seasons.

The complete schedule for the upcoming 2026-27 NBA season will be announced on Thursday, August 13 at 12 p.m. PT.
